Jake: Legalization of car modifications: The act of modifying your car beyond the factory status should be legal. People that build their car for performance purposes take into account the dangers of street racing and will often take their car to a race track to safely and legally test the capabilities of their vehicle. There is also a large percentage of car enthusiasts that modify their car for show purposes that dont street race. They attend car meets for the purpose of showing off the hard work they put into their car.
The legalization of marijuana in the United States and in Mexico: The majority of the Mexican drug cartel comes from the smuggling of marijuana and sale of marijuana over the U.S. border. The legalization of marijuana in both the United States and in Mexico would lower the income of the cartel and cause less drug violence from the cartel.
Luna: In 2019, the Hong Kong protests took place. After the protests started to die down, violence began to grow. Police began to use tear gas and the blue dye cannons, which also have tear gas in them. This made protesters easy to identify and arrest, though, it resulted in police chasing people around, causing more and more injuries. In one day, 28 people were injured. This caused conflict throughout the city, and sparked arguments and disagreements between the Hong Kong government and the citizens. The best way to solve this issue is by using peaceful communication between the two.
The beginning of American Healthcare was sparked 1890 in when lumber companies in Washington began to pay their physician workers to take care of their employees. It wasn’t widely talked about in the country. Throughout the years different mentions and policies were brought up and created based on people’s proposals. Some of these included the Blue Cross Insurance Plans, Health, Warfare, and Social Insurance Plan, and the Healthcare plan for people over the age of 65 or with disabilities. Up to today we now have the Medicare Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act, which was established in 2003. With this long history and journey to create a strong and stable Healthcare plan for America, it became a hinderance and an aid at the same time. Fair Medical care needs to be provided for everyone in the United States no matter their income. The United States has a very hard time giving people with lower income the same treatment regarding medical care than others who are wealthier. Everyone should be treated the same and given the same options no matter how low or high their income is.
Brooke: Prevention of Gun Violence- Stronger gun trafficking and straw purchase laws could help reduce gun violence by discouraging those who are legally able to buy guns from diverted weapons to criminals and those living in jurisdictions with restrictive firearm ownership requirements.
